It's Time for the 2009 National Book Festival!
This year's National Book Festival will take place on the National Mall on September 26, 2009. It will be held from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm between 7th and 14th Streets. If you have been before, you know that it is not only place to buy some of the most up-to-date, contemporary books, but also a place to meet authors, old and new.
This year, I am so excited to see (and hear) Julia Alvarez, author of one of my favorite young adult books How the Garcia Girls Lost their Accents. Andddddddddddddd.....one of the most read young adult authors ever will be there - the prolific, Judy Blume!!!! Honestly, what girl hasn't read, Are You There God, It's Me Margaret? And the Superfudge series has helped many people survive elementary school and younger siblings.
But there are a host of other authors that will be there. And I will be there. So if you go, know that you can get extra credit. Just take a couple of pictures (with you in it proving you went), and get some brochures from the event and bring that in on Monday, September 28th.
