Math HW Set #7

We continued our study of shapes this week and had two assignments completed for credit:

1) Page 531 (7-12)
2) Page 532 (17-22) and
#'s 44, 45 for extra credit

I postponed the geometry quiz to next week because of the dance and half day. Over the weekend students should study how to find the area and perimeter of shapes (squares, rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, trapezoids, and circles).

Math HW Set #5

This week students began our Geometry Unit and started some graphing activities on the coordinate plane.  This week there were 2 assignments completed for credit:

1) Page 49 (1-20)
2) "Wump" graphs (including extra credit opportunities)

Math HW Set #4

Students completed two days of Achievement Network testing this week and reviewed for our Number Theory Test.  They also received their textbooks and mid-advisory grade print outs.  The HW set for this week was:
1) Number Theory Study Guide (to be used on the test)
2) Parent Signature on grade print out

The tests will be graded today and returned to the students on Wednesday.  Along with the test students will get a "Test Correction" paper that will allow students to review their test and improve their score.  It is really important students do not ignore questions/concepts they missed but they go back and study them.  All of these test items will be on the DCCAS exam this spring.

Enjoy the holiday weekend,
Mr. Sunukjian

First Math Unit Almost Complete

This week in math class students turned in their "Success Projects" and took an Integer Quiz.  The quiz involved all operations with integers and will be graded and returned early next week.

Our first unit is almost complete and students have started the review and study process for the Unit Test (scheduled for the end of next week).  This process includes a Study Guide, practice problems, and group rotations in class.  Please encourage your student to give their best effort in preparing for this test.  The textbook distribution has had some technical setbacks but will the Math books will be given out next week to help in studying for the test.

With the project and quiz this week no written HW was due but students have an opportunity to earn extra credit points by completing questions/designs this weekend.
