Math HW Thanksgiving Week(end)

We reviewed squares and square roots this week and began our exploration of the Pythagorean Theorem. There were no additional assignments given this week so students will have the opportunity to make up any missing HW's from Set #10 last week.

The Geometry Unit is almost over so students can also begin their Study Guide to prepare for the unit test. I will give the Geometry Study Guide out next week after we finish the Pythagorean Theorm.

Happy Thanksgiving (read President Lincoln's Thanksgiving Proclamation),

1) Page 554 (1-3, 7-9)
2) Page 555 (10-12, 31-32)
3) Page 455 (1-14, 82)

Math HW Set #9

This week we continued our study of surface area and reviewed operations with Decimals. Students were also exposed to transformations of figures on a graph. There were three HW's given for credit this week:

1) Page 541 (10-11, 30)
2) Page 775 (1-5) and Page 776 (1-6)
3) Page 731 (3-7)*
*Draw the graphs

Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend and keep checking in with your student to see what they are learning in Mathematics.

Math HW Set #8

This week we continued our study of Geometry and took a Geometry Quiz on Tuesday. Once all the quizzes have been completed and graded I will return them next week. At the end of this week we began our exploration of "surface area" (the total area of all the faces). There were two assignments given beyond studying for the quiz:

1) Page 536 (1-6)
2) Page 539 (1-2)* and Page 541 (6-9, 14)* over the weekend
*I recommend NOT using the formulas for surface area. Instead, find the area of each face and then add for the total area.

Enjoy the weekend and make sure your student is off to a good start in the 2nd Advisory.
